The Epson 11880 Printer is Super Cheap!

I just noticed the Epson Stylus Pro 11880 (64") Printer has a $5,000 instant rebate. This must be Epson's stimulus package!

This makes the printer between $7,000 and $8,000 depending on where you purchase it. A steal at that price! Especially considering retail price is $14,995.

Just my two cents for the day. Contact me if you want a referal or post on the comments where you find the best deal.

Refurbished Epson 3800 Deal!

Although the Epson store ran out of refurbished 3800 17" Printers ( Part Number: C635011UCM-N ) there are still a few websites offering them (and at a better price). I wish I would have known before I bought a new one in December, but I think at this price I will buy another.

They still have the one year warranty & a full set of starter inks, however, they do not qualify for any of Epson's rebates. You can still save about $200 even without the rebate, however.

I will post the other great deal I found on Epson printers tomorrow -- Stay Tuned!

Epson Wide Format Printer Issues: Gimp drivers on Mac OS X

Epson Printer Issues: Remove Gimp drivers on Mac OS X

If you are having problems with printing to an Epson 4000, 7600, 9600, or 10600 from Macintosh OSX than it's possible that the system is using Apple's "gimp" driver and not Epson's driver (the correct driver). Symptoms of the gimp driver include bad color, low quality, and inconsistent results.

To verify that your system is using the correct driver and not the gimp driver, launch the Printer Setup Utility application located in your Applications/Utilities folder. Look at the line containing your Epson printer and then look at the "Kind" column description. Make sure it begins with the word Epson. If you see anything else like CUPS or Gimp in the description then the system is using the incorrect driver.

At this point you need to uninstall the GIMP drivers. You can download the uninstall program at this location.... http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php3

The program is called gimp-print-uninstaller-1.1.dmg. Download it and run the uninstaller. This will remove the gimp drivers from your Mac. Reboot your Macintosh and then launch the printer setup utility. Click the add printer button and in the top drop-down box make sure you select the appropriate connection type you are using, i.e. Epson USB, Epson TCP/IP, etc. You should now see your Epson printer in the list and you can now add the driver. This will install the appropriate Epson driver and you will now be printing with success. If you have any questions you can contact support at www.dtgweb.com.

What helps if you suspect Fraud from Overseas?

We received the following comment over the weekend on our Second Post about The Feed The Children Banner Scam and Fake Company Fraud from Ghana. I am curious to see if anyone else has advice for what to do if you suspect you have already been the victim of fraud?

Let us know if the comments and lets see if we can help each other out.

pmmb has left a new comment on the post "Another Banner Scam Email from Ghana - "God is Gre...":

Is there anyone who can help me? My husband has sent $115,000.00 or more to a Ghanan guy - to his bank in New Jersey! It's for a computer contract from 21 months back. My husband thinks the guy is legitimate??!!! I can't believe it - how naive do people come? Any advice? I wanted to stay married, but it is hard based on my husband doing this all behind my back and now thinking it is legitimate.

52 Pieces Project by Renee Coates

Pablo Picasso once said, “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.”  If that is true then Renee Coates (www.reneecoates.com) is making an original entry each week.  After building success as an artist Coates wanted art lovers who wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to own one of her original prints, to have the chance to. That is how 52 pieces was born.

The 52 pieces project allows admirers of Coates art to spend a few hundred dollars rather than a couple thousand on an original piece. Every week Coates creates an original 6” x 6” oil painting and puts it on eBay for anyone to bid on.  Each month Coates changes up the theme for her weekly paintings.

Coates paintings feature anything from vibrant landscape paintings to simple yet elegant paintings of fruits.  Pieces go online every Sunday at 11:52 p.m. EST.  If you don’t win the bidding don’t worry, you can still buy a Archival giclee print on on 7”x7” water color paper starting at $1.  For more information go to www.52pieces.com.

The Comic Sans was preserved from the original email for the true scam feeling. This scammer didn't even bother to send it to the right email (we were on the BCC list, along with I'm sure a whole lot of other printing companies). There was no attachment to the email. We have also never heard from this person before.

This e-mail does not even deserve a reply.

Stay Safe,

Michael
